Berkeley County First Steps Fall Trainings 2017

Compassion and Self-Care for Early Childhood Professionals – In today’s busy society, self-care seems to be the last thing on the list for many who work in the childcare field.  Some even consider it to be selfish or over-indulgent.  This training will help you to understand the importance of personal well-being, and how taking care of yourself can make your personal and professional life more fulfilling.

Saturday, October 21           Infant and Toddler focused

Language and Cognitive Development – How infants develop their thinking skills and rapidly learn to understand language, and why the development of these skills is critical in the first three years of life –    9:00 – 11:00      2 hours in Growth & Development

Social and Emotional Development –  How encouraging a sense of security and well-being in infants aids in early learning and the development of healthy relationships –   11:30 – 1:30  – 2 hours in Growth & Development

Saturday, November 4       Infant and Toddler focused

Physical Health (Module 2 of PITC) – Good physical health and nutrition are critical to an infant’s growth and development.  How to positively influence their well-being and help parents make good choices9:00-11:30 – 2.5 hours in Growth & Development

Motor Development (Module 5 of PITC) – How babies learn through movement and why motor skills effect other domains of development

Emergency & Disaster Preparedness – Be ready for the unexpected!  Learn how to prepare your center, and support children & families before, during, and after an emergency, or disaster.  9:00 – 11.30 – 2.5 hours in Program Administration

Promoting Professionalism and Ethical Conduct in Child Care Centers – Those who work with young children face many daily decisions that have moral and ethical implications.  Explore the ideals and principles that should guide your conduct.

12:00-2:30  –  2.5 hours in Program Administration
